Some weeks are filled with big achievements, while others remind us that it’s the little milestones that quietly shape the journey.
This week at Wildhorse Homestead was one of those weeks.
Nine little personalities begin to shine
It’s hard to believe our guardian puppies have already reached two weeks of age.
With that milestone came a few important jobs. Everyone graduated into a new handmade collar after quickly outgrowing their first set, and somehow those tiny bundles of fur are already beginning to show their own unique personalities.

They also reached another important stage in their development with their first worming treatment alongside Mum, Luni.
Every day continues to include Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), gentle exercises designed to encourage confidence, resilience and curiosity during these critical early weeks. It’s always a highlight watching Luni calmly supervise every session, stepping in only when she feels she’s needed. She continues to prove what an incredible guardian and mother she is.
Applications are now open for the Foundation Litter, although these puppies won’t be leaving for their forever homes until 12 weeks of age. Those extra weeks allow us to continue building strong foundations through socialisation, confidence-building and exposure to everyday homestead life—an investment we believe gives each puppy the very best start.
New creations in the workshop
The workshop has been just as busy.
This week we welcomed two new additions to our Wildhorse Woodworx bird feeder collection, introducing both green and clear recycled glass bottles to the range. Watching one hanging beneath a flowering orchid with the dam in the background was a lovely reminder of why we create these pieces—to encourage wildlife while giving reclaimed materials a beautiful second life.
Another project taking shape was our newest rustic burnt letterbox. There’s something deeply satisfying about carefully burning a custom house number into timber by hand, knowing each piece becomes completely unique to its new home.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been experimenting with a collection of handmade milk paint colours that may soon find their way onto future Woodworx creations. We can’t wait to share more as they develop.
A little taste of home
Not every story happens in the workshop.
This week the kitchen was filled with the unmistakable smell of traditional South African slap chips—but with a Wildhorse twist. Seasoned with our Australian Native BBQ Rub and served alongside a plant-based burger marinated in the same blend, they became the perfect reminder that simple food made from quality ingredients is often the most memorable.
The quieter moments
Sometimes it’s the moments we never plan that stay with us longest.
The silver perch greeted breakfast with their usual enthusiasm, almost leaping from the dam in anticipation, while Obi and Josie found the warmest patch of winter sunshine and reminded us that rest has its place too.
Those quiet moments are easy to overlook, but together they tell the real story of life here on the homestead.
