The Wildhorse Homestead Foundation Litter – Winter 2026

Every journey has a beginning, and this is ours. Luni and Obi’s first litter marks the start of the Wildhorse Homestead breeding program—a program built on trust, thoughtful breeding and raising Maremmas with the opportunity to become the calm, capable guardians they were bred to be. Over the next twelve weeks we’ll be documenting every milestone, from their very first days through to the moment they leave for their forever homes, inviting you to follow their journey alongside us.

Our cozy, fully-equipped tiny house accommodation offers the ultimate nature immersion without sacrificing modern comfort, featuring a plush queen bed, a gas-heated hot shower, a well-equipped kitchenette, and full split-system air conditioning. Unwind to the gentle soundtrack of the flowing creek right outside your door—where you might even spot our resident platypus—and share your stay with passing native wildlife and our friendly farm animals. Perfectly situated in the peaceful foothills of the Bauple Mountains, this rural retreat seamlessly pairs tranquil farm life with easy regional access, sitting just 30 minutes from Gympie and 35 minutes from the K’gari (Fraser Island) ferry.

We are pet friendly and can accomodate small families with room to set up an adjacent camp site.

Combining De Wet’s extensive background in elite sports, military aviation, and holistic recovery with their shared commitment to long-term health, the pair transformed their lives to focus on restoration.

Situated at the foothills of Mount Bauple, the homestead bridges the gap between land and clinic, offering small-batch spices and apocathary remedies from the land, a plant nursery, and wellness studio designed to help others regulate their nervous systems.

This week, while editing our latest Wildhorse Homestead POV, we realised we’d quietly reached twenty-six weeks of sharing our journey. Six months of opening the gate and inviting you into our little corner of the world.

It felt beautifully fitting that this milestone arrived alongside the Winter Solstice. The shortest day of the year. A turning point that reminds us even in the stillness of winter, the light has already begun returning.

In many ways, that’s exactly what building a homestead feels like. The changes rarely happen overnight. Instead, they arrive through hundreds of ordinary moments that slowly become something extraordinary when you look back.
