A bold, sweet-spicy chutney that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, cheese boards, or slow-cooked dishes—featuring our Native Citrus Chilli Rub for a smoky, citrusy kick.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups ripe Brazilian cherries (seeds removed)
• 1 small red onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• ½ cup apple cider vinegar
• 1 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
• 1 tbsp Native Citrus Chilli Rub (add an additional 5-8 fresh birds eye chilli’s for a more intense heat)
(Lemon Myrtle, Chilli, Orange Peel, Smoked Himalayan Sea Salt, Smoked Paprika, Coriander, Cumin, Garlic, Onion, Black Pepper)
• 1 tsp fresh grated ginger (optional)
• ½ tsp mustard seeds
• 1 tbsp olive oil

Method:

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent.

  3. Stir in garlic, ginger, mustard seeds and Native Citrus Chilli Rub —cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  4. Add Brazilian cherries, vinegar, sugar.

  5. Simmer gently for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and glossy.

  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice if needed.

  7. Spoon into sterilised jars and allow to cool.

  8. *Tip – Add a 1-2 Tbs Cornstarch to 1/4 cup of water and stir into boiling mixture until smooth for a thicker sauce consistency.

Serving Ideas:

• Pair with roast meats, BBQ, or grilled chicken
• Serve alongside cheese boards (especially aged cheddar)
