Baby Sun Rose (Mesembryanthemum cordifolium) is a perfect ground cover for sunny slopes. This plant has a spreading mat-forming habit. This beautiful succulent loves full sun. It’s thick lime-green heart-shaped glossy leaves keep the soil cool and weed-free. It also grows under trees and in lightly shaded areas that drain well. Its dainty hot pink flowers are a highlight, but only open if exposed to sunlight. It is drought tolerant and needs little attention other than protection from frost.

Baby Sun Rose (Mesembryanthemum cordifolium) is an extremely hardy, easy growing, edible succulent. It has a subtle flavour of sour, green apple and is best served raw. It’s flowers can be used in salads or in cocktails. This plant is native to the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, where it is reportedly used for its anti-inflammatory properties.
