Massage Therapist | Holistic Wellness Practitioner – De Wet
De Wet brings a rare blend of elite athletic training, lived experience, and holistic wellness practice to Wildhorse Homestead Wellness Studio.
From a young age, De Wet trained for elite and semi-professional sport in South Africa, later being selected to train as a pilot in the South African Air Force. His early career also included playing representative-level rugby in Ireland and competing at a high level in cricket.
A tragic vehicle accident resulting in serious knee and hip injuries brought these paths to an abrupt halt. Rather than allowing injury to define his future, De Wet chose a different direction — one grounded in deep understanding of the human body, recovery, and resilience.
Following multiple knee surgeries and a shoulder operation, De Wet spent years rebuilding his body from the ground up. This journey led him back into service as a Flight Loadmaster in the South African Air Force, while also competing at the highest level with the South African Air Force cricket team and later in the early South African semi-professional MMA scene.
De Wet was awarded an honorary black belt at Tiger Kai South Africa before retiring from fighting to become a trainer and mentor. His students went on to compete professionally in MMA — with some still active in the sport today. He was also invited to train the South African Tactical Police Squad and facilitated women’s self-defence programs, further expanding his understanding of strength, safety, and embodied confidence.
Central to De Wet’s work has always been a holistic approach. He developed lifestyle improvement and wellness programs for his athletes, integrating recovery, nutrition, movement, mindset, and sustainable living practices to support both performance and long-term wellbeing.
After emigrating to Australia, De Wet continued training MMA students and supporting holistic wellness in Sydney before eventually settling on the Fraser Coast in Glenwood, Queensland.
Today, De Wet brings his decades of experience working with elite athletes, injury recovery, and whole-body performance into a calmer, more grounded setting at Wildhorse Homestead Wellness Studio. His massage and therapeutic work is informed by real-world understanding of pain, recovery, adaptation, and balance — supporting locals not just to heal, but to live better.
In addition to massage and in-studio therapies, De Wet offers holistic wellness consultations for lifestyle improvement, available in person or online, supporting clients with practical, sustainable changes aligned with their personal goals.
