The Keeper’s Coast Journey is a private guided 4WD experience from Rocky Creek Escape to Double Island Point Lighthouse via Rainbow Beach — led by someone who once called the lighthouse home.

Before automation.
Before power.
Before modern convenience.

Michelle lived at the lighthouse as a child. Her father was the keeper. Her mother educated four young daughters in isolation — without services, without infrastructure, without outside noise.

Today, she returns not as a resident — but as your guide.

More than a drive — a guided coastal experience

This is not just a 4WD trip — it’s a guided journey through one of the most breathtaking coastal regions in Australia.

Travel from the peaceful surrounds of Wildhorse Homestead to the iconic Double Island Point, driving through inland forest tracks, along expansive beaches, and up to panoramic coastal views overlooking the southern tip of K’gari.

Led as a tag-along experience, you’ll follow our vehicle while learning the route, conditions, and hidden highlights along the way.

A story you won’t find anywhere else

This experience is guided by someone who lived at the Double Island Point Lighthouse as a child, offering a rare and personal connection to the landscape.

• Local knowledge of tides, tracks and conditions
• Stories and history from a lived experience
• A deeper understanding of the region beyond the map

Ocean Knowledge & Long Waves

Alongside Michelle’s heritage story is De Wet’s ocean insight — shaped by years surfing the powerful lines of Mossel Bay before immigrating to Australia.

Double Island Point is renowned for its long peeling waves — both left and right-hand breaks. Guests gain insight into:

Reading swell and sandbanks

Big wave awareness

 Coastal safety

What makes this point break world-class
