At Wildhorse Homestead, we believe wellness begins with the breath and the ritual of hydration. This tea is specifically crafted as a functional tool for those managing dry mouth, providing a natural, acid-balancing way to stimulate flow and protect your oral wellbeing.
The Botanical Benefits: Oral Health & Vitality
- Lemon Myrtle: Nature’s most potent source of citral. It acts as a powerful, natural antimicrobial that helps neutralise oral bacteria, keeping the breath fresh and the gums healthy.
- Cranberry Hibiscus Leaf: Rich in anthocyanins and Vitamin C, this “crimson” leaf provides a gentle, tart acidity that naturally encourages salivation—the body’s primary defense against tooth decay and dry mouth (xerostomia).
- Tahitian Lime Leaf: Provides a cooling, aromatic hit of essential oils that soothe inflamed tissues and offer a clean, moisture-locking finish to the palate.
Directions for Use
- Measure: Add 1 heaped teaspoon to your vessel.
- Brew: Use slightly cooled boiling water (85–90°C) to preserve the delicate Vitamin C in the hibiscus.
- Steep: Infuse for 6–8 minutes. The longer it steeps, the more “mouth-watering” the tartness becomes.
- Mindful Swish: Take a small sip and hold it in your mouth for 5 seconds, allowing the botanicals to coat the gums and tongue before swallowing.
Mindfulness Practices: Managing Dry Mouth
Dry mouth can be a persistent distraction to a peaceful state of mind. Use this tea as a preventative anchor in your daily routine:
- Salivary Stimulation Meditation: While the tea steeps, place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth. As you breathe in, visualise the tartness of the lime and hibiscus. As you sip, notice the “mouth-feel” and the natural activation of your salivary glands.
- The Hydration Shield: Sip small amounts frequently throughout the day rather than gulping. This keeps the oral mucosa consistently coated and protected from the long-term irritation of dryness.
- The “Fresh Breath” Pause: Use the cooling Lemon Myrtle notes as a sensory cue to release jaw tension. When the mouth feels dry, the jaw often clenches; let the citrus aroma be your signal to soften and relax.
