ABOUT - Our biodynamic aquaculture farm, art gallery and garden cente

Michelle and De Wet founded Wildhorse Homestead in 2024 in Glenwood, Queensland, Australia – a sustainable, biodynamic, organic, aquaculture and permaculture, mixed use farm on the edge of Bauple Forest and Mount Bauple.
De Wet was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa and worked as a South African Air Force Loadmaster prior to becoming a software developer, Builder and IT systems manager. He also competed in South Africa’s early MMA fight scene before becoming a trainer as well as working as a trainer for the South African Police Tactical Squad. Some of the fighters De Wet trained in South Africa are still competing in Global MMA organisations as of this writing. De Wet immigrated with his family to Australia in 2012.
Michelle was born and raised in Queensland, Australia and studied Biomedical Science at Griffith University, Brisbane as a single mum prior to becoming a Queensland Police Officer serving in both Central and Remote Western Queensland.
During a period of 6 years of being a Stay at home Mum, Michelle started learning the arts of caring for her 3 children, 4 chickens, 2 ducks and dog. She also learned vegetable gardening, fruit tree care, harvesting, composting, preserving, sewing and cooking for her family, often straight from the garden. While her children were young and at school, Michelle used her time at home to cultivate the gardens, orchards and animals and study a Bachelor of Business Majoring in Accounting, which she graduated with honours.
Through a marriage of these 2 cultures and backgrounds, Michelle and De Wet’s vision was to build a diversified, biodynamic, mixed use aquaculture farm with an on-site Garden Art and Plant Nursery Centre that stocks indigenous works that feature African and Australian cultures while supporting the communities producing these valuables; and also to share the abundance and health of home-grown foods by selling their sustainably produced excess garden products and seedlings to the local community.
