🌿 WILDHORSE HOMESTEAD

Wildhorse Homestead Farm Blog

Rooted in Resilience. Built on Healing.

Founded in 2024 by Michelle and De Wet in Glenwood, Queensland, Wildhorse Homestead is a sustainable mixed-use farm combining wellness, food, nature and recovery.

Nestled on the edge of the Bauple Forest and beneath Mount Bauple, our homestead integrates:

• A wellness studio
• Herbal and pantry product lines
• Regeneratively grown produce
• A plant nursery
• Equipment hire
• Creekside farm stay accommodation

Our farming practices draw from organic, permaculture, aquaculture and biodynamic principles. We do not use chemicals, synthetic fertilisers or pesticides.

Wildhorse exists for one reason:

Because we have lived the consequences of disconnection — and the power of rebuilding.

De Wet

Holistic Wellness Practitioner | Performance & Recovery Specialist

Born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa, De Wet’s life has spanned elite sport, military aviation, injury recovery and high-performance coaching.

From representative rugby in Ireland to competing in South Africa’s early semi-professional MMA scene, De Wet trained and mentored fighters — some of whom still compete in global MMA organisations today.

He was awarded an honorary black belt at Tiger Kai South Africa and later trained members of the South African Tactical Police Squad while facilitating women’s self-defence programs.

But it was injury — not victory — that shaped his true direction.

After multiple surgeries to his knees and shoulder, De Wet rebuilt his body from the ground up. That experience fundamentally reshaped his understanding of:

Wildhorse Homestead Wellness Studio

• Pain
• Recovery
• Compensation patterns
• Nervous system overload
• Long-term sustainability

Today, at Wildhorse Homestead Wellness Studio, his work integrates:

• Remedial and relaxation massage
• Scar tissue and fascia release
• Structural rebalancing
• Breathwork-informed therapy

• Red light therapy
• Hydrogen-oxygen therapy
• EMF/Rife frequency support
• Strength and mobility restoration

His philosophy is simple:

Healing is not about intensity.
It is about integrity.

De Wet now offers in-studio treatments and, in the future, will expand into structured holistic wellness consultations and immersive retreat facilitation.

At the end of 2019, Michelle was diagnosed with aggressive, metastasised stage-three tonsil cancer.

The tumour stretched from the base of her tongue down her throat. Doctors gave her three months without treatment.

Chemotherapy and radiation were described as brutal. They were right.

The treatment nearly killed her.

A haemorrhage caused by the tumour eroding a blood vessel brought her close to death. Later, metastasis to her lung required surgical removal of one-third of her right lung.

The long-term side effects were devastating:

• No saliva glands
• Chronic radiation fibrosis
• Scar tissue in mouth, neck and chest
• Thyroid damage
• Seizures
• Chronic fatigue
• Difficulty swallowing
• Ongoing pain

Michelle survived — but survival is not the same as recovery.

It was through rebuilding her body slowly, honestly, and sustainably that healing truly began.

With De Wet’s support, Michelle worked daily on:

• Scar tissue release
• Core integrity and breath retraining
• Nervous system recalibration
• Red light and hydrogen-oxygen therapy
• Plant-based nourishment
• True rest

Today:

She has saliva again.
She eats chilli.
She takes no medication.
She sleeps deeply.
She is cancer-free.

Michelle’s future focus at Wildhorse Homestead is supporting post-cancer survivors navigating the long-term effects of chemotherapy and radiation — particularly in the mouth, neck and chest regions.

Not through medical claims.
But through lived experience, embodied understanding, and sustainable lifestyle integration.

Wildhorse Homestead is not a brand built from theory.

It is built from:

• Collapse
• Rebuilding
• Honest self-reflection
• Letting go of ego
• Choosing long-term health over short-term output

Our future vision includes:

• Holistic wellness consultations
• Small group regenerative retreats
• Post-treatment recovery support
• Lifestyle integration programs
• Farm-to-body nourishment experiences

We believe that:

True wellness is slow.
True strength is integrated.
True healing requires environment.

And environment is what we are building here.
