Flowering Red Gum (Corymbia ficifolia) Seed Bombs
Seed bombs help in propagating this fast-growing, drought-tolerant tree tree that produces a profusion of brilliant red flowers.
Give the perfect gardening gift! Give as a heartfelt way to show someone you care about their plant obsession.
Fun for kids or gardeners with hard to reach areas or time constraints. Just toss into areas you are wanting to populate. So Easy!
With the specialised addition of diatomaceous earth, you also get the following benefits:
- Helps control pests: diatomaceous earth’s abrasive nature helps protect the seeds from being eaten by insects and pests.
- Prevents disease: support your plant by preventing fungal diseases from attacking the seeds and young seedlings.
- Soil condition: The silica in diatomaceous earth strengthens plant cell walls, which can lead to healthier, more resilient plants.
The Flowering Red Gum grows easily from seed and is a beautiful native shade tree that is moderately fast growing and may grow to 15 m high. Grows in sandy soil, prefers a moist, protected sunny position, drought, and frost tender.
The best time to sow:
Cool climates: September to May.
Temperate climates: September to May.
Sub-Tropical climates: August to May
Tropical climates: September to November or March to May.
Arid climates: August to May.
Toss seed bombs on the surface of the area you want to cover. Do not bury the seed. Water lightly with a fine mist spray. Once germinated, mulch plants to retain moisture in the soil and fertilise annually in spring using a native slow release fertiliser. Germinates in 2-5 weeks.
Do not be to hasty worrying about seeds that do not germinate; seeds may lay dormant until conditions are like their natural environment.
The fertiliser component of this bomb is dried Alpaca manure. This manure is perfect since it has an N:P:K of 1:2:1, it doesn’t need to be aged or composted to prevent plant burn and contains no weed seeds.
Packets contain 10 seed bombs.
